To raise money for the victims of the Haiti Earthquake, British pop music mogul and talent judge Simon Cowell will be arranging a cover version of Everybody Hurts by REM to be performed by many of Britain’s best-known artists, including Rod Stweart, Robbie Williams and Leona Lewis. Michael Stipe has confirmed the band would wave all royalties from the song. But Cowell’s Hope For Haiti troupe aren’t the first to record versions of the track written by REM’s drummer Bill Berry. Not by a long chalk, my friend. After the jump, 19 more, including The Chipmunks.
