Director of ‘Heavy Metal Parking Lot’ film talks

October 10th, 2008 by WolfyJones · No Comments · Music media, Music news

If anyone remembers the 1986 documentary, Heavy Metal Parking Lot, filmed in a parking lot outside a Judas Priest/Dokken concert, then you’ll know it’s worth at least one watch in your lifetime. Nirvana used to watch it on their tour bus, a fact that Dave Grohl verified in 2005. In a new interview, the director, Jeff Krulik, answers questions about the film and reflects on HMPL’s influence at YuppiePunk. “I’m flattered that it’s considered some sort of anthropological work, so future generations can screen it and enjoy it and, in some cases, study it,” he says. “I know it’s been included in some film school class curriculums.” Read the interview to see excerpts from the film. The DVD is also available to buy.
