"Musictoob serves up juicy tidbits from the music scene" - The Wall Street Journal
Or so say Radar magazine, who recently ran a piece pondering why gays hate black music, following a list of the 100 greatest, gayest albums of all time was published in ‘Out’. Headlining at number one, was David Bowie’s, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’. Other selections included no less than four albums by The Smiths, a handful of riot grrrl bands, a bit of Tracey Chapman, and then some George Michael. The Radar feature sparked a storm of outraged commentary from readers who understood the writer, Choire Sicha, to be equating ‘black music’ with hip hop. “The gays are afraid of urban-ness, and the gay culture is dominated by the white gays. And that is boring and a problem” said Sicha. “I mean, I’m not looking for Eazy-E on this list, or in the gay clubs. But it’s true that the majority of gays only now socially listen to the new disco, which is light pop soul: the Beyonce, whatever, and as black as it gets is Mariah.” Says one commenter, “Somehow I just don’t connect with music that talks about bitches and hoes and makes all sorts of allusions to wet pussy.” But the person who made the most sense was this one: “I would actually say that gays hate WHITE music. After all, there wasn’t a country album on that list was there? Just because someone’s white, doesn’t mean their music is.”

I totally disagree with this post. I know quite a few homosexual people that love both rap music and country music.
