Glastonbury organizers hit back at Noel Gallagher

April 15th, 2008 by pembo1 · No Comments · Music news

Glasto organizer Emily Eavis has defended her decision to book Jay Z as a headline act after Noel Gallagher said it was a “wrong” wrong wrong. “There is no reason we should not have the greatest living hip hop artist at Glastonbury“, she said, before hinting that Gallagher’s objections could be construed as racist. Whatevs! The tedious truth Mr Gallagher was grasping towards is that generally speaking, the live rock venue is not the best place to experience hip hop, just as a club is not the best place to listen to Oasis. Eavis went on to confirm that ticket sales have been slow this year. (The festival took out a full page ad in The Guardian on Monday to encourage sales.) Last year 177, 500 tickets sold out in two hours. The reason? Hot, crusty girls wrestling in mud never gets old.
