Is Susan Boyle heading for another breakdown?

All is not well with Susan Boyle.

The singer behaved erratically in front of television cameras yesterday leading many to believe she could be headed for another breakdown.

The 48 year old was enjoying lunch with fans at the Rock Center Cafe at the Rockefeller Center in New York when she started to act strangely.

Staring straight ahead, the I Dreamed A Dream singer sucked her thumb and then, after being presented  with a patchwork quilt knitted by hundreds of people from 28 countries, she suuddenly broke down in tears.

Then she seemed to snap out of it and performed a little dance for the cameras.

Boyle had been in New York on a whistle stop tour to promote her debut album, which is expected to be the fastest selling record of the year.

Moments earlier she had completed a note perfect performance on  NBC’s Today Show. During an interview on the program she said she dedicated her album to her late mother.

“My mother was a very lovely person and very unique and very caring, and I wanted to pay her back by trying to be something, other than what I used to be,” she said.

Her odd behaviour will again open the debate as to whether she is able to cope with her sudden fame.

After finishing second on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year she had a mini breakdown and had to be taken to rehab facility the Priory.
