Michael Jackson is ready to end his 24-year-long feud with Paul McCartney. Sort of. Jacko has decided to leave the rights to the Beatles songs that he bought in 1985 to Macca in his will.
The two had been buddies until Jackson outbid McCartney on the collection of songs, a move that enraged McCartney and immediately ended their friendship.
“You know what doesn’t feel very good, is going on tour and paying to sing all my songs,” McCartney said in a 2006 interview. “Every time I sing ‘Hey Jude,’ I’ve got to pay someone.”
Jackson is reportedly worried about his health and sad that he no longer talks to his former friend, but the only solution he sees is to wait until he’s in the grave to make amends.
Following rumors that the King of Pop is hard up for cash (2,000 items belonging to him will go the auction block in April) and near his deathbed due to a terminal lung disease, his decision to return the songs to their author may happen sooner rather than later.
