Jimmy Chamberlin’s out of Smashing Pumpkins

billycorganBilly Corgan’s announced on the Smashing Pumpkins website that he’ll continue to perform as Smashing Pumpkins despite the new departure of founding drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. This leaves the group about as Corgan intended it: all Billy, all the time. Fans saw this one coming — though Chamberlin said on his blog “There is no drama, bad blood, or anything else.” Right.

Chamberlin says he’s not willing to “cash the check,” or make good on the “commitment” of being in the Pumpkins. We’re betting he’s unable to withstand the crushing force of Billy’s enormous, nasal ego.
