Maybe Scarlett Johansson is a singer trapped in the body of an actress. A very hot actress

Here at Musictoob we reserve the right to completely contradict ourselves, writes LAUREN GITLIN. With that in mind, we’d like to apologize for being  a little harsh taking Scarlett Johansson to task for her latest musical tragedy, a cover of Jeff Buckely’s “Last Goodbye.”  Perhaps we have it all wrong. Maybe rather than exploiting her acting career to foist bad music on the world, Scarlet Johansson’s goal was to embark on a musical career all along? On investigation, we’ve uncovered her long, intimate history with the musical world, and it almost makes us want to take back what we said.

•  In 1999 ScarJo starred in the Mandy Moore video for “Candy”
• In  2005 she inspired several songs on Steel Train’s album “Connect Set” (her ex-boyfriend Jack Antonoff is the band’s lead singer) 
• In 2005 she auditioned for a role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber staging of The Sound of Music. She wasn’t cast.
• In 2006 she starred in an indie film about Bob Dylan, “When The Deal Goes Down,” released to promote Dylan album Modern Times
• In  2007 ScarJo sang Bonnie Raitt’s “Something to Talk About” with Andy Samberg on SNL 
• In 2007 she performed with The Jesus and Mary Chain at Coachella 
• In 2007 she appeared in video for Justin Timberlake’s song “What Goes Around/Comes Around” 
• In 2008 she released an album of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head, with help from TV on the Radio producer Dave Sitek and a couple of duets from David Bowie
