Michael Jackson’s abusive dad cut out of son’s will

1246276631article-1196158-0585b9ea000005dc-224_233x560Michael Jackson’s sonofabitch dad Joe has been cut out of his son’s will.

It is thought the document drafted by the pop star in 2002 does not include his father, with whom he had a tumultuous relationship.

The will divides Jackson’s estate between his mother Katherine, his three children and one or more charities, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Sources say a lawyer for the singer, who died last week at the age of 50, could submit the will to Los Angeles Superior Court as soon as Thursday.

Crucially, the will is believed to be Jackson’s last. Other wills have emerged since Jackson’s death, it has been claimed.

The potential emergence of the latest will is set to spark a flurry of legal wrangling by the family and those who were closest to Jackson.

Jackson’s parents said this week in a court document that they believe their son died without a valid will.

A lawyer for his parents said they had not seen the 2002 will.

“No will has been presented to family or us,” said L. Londell McMillan, who used to represent Jackson himself. “We will review any will when we see it.”

The 2002 will’s executors are lawyer John Branca and a veteran music executive John McClain, a friend of Jackson’s.

Mr Branca, Jackson’s main lawyer between 1980 and 2006, wrote the will. The Wall Street Journal said Mr Branca had been rehired by Jackson the week before his death.

Although Jackson died with debts of about $500 billion, the value of his assets will outstrip that – perhaps totalling more than $1 billion.

He has a 50 per cent stake in Sony/ATV Music Publishing, as well as a stake in Mijac, a publishing catalogue.

Control of the master recordings of his albums is set to revert to him in five years, sources say.

Katherine Jackson has been appointed “special administrator” of her son’s estate until a July 6 hearing, but the court order stipulated that she was not to take possession of money or property, except as permitted by the court.

Court papers list the value of the estate as “unknown.”

Jackson’s father Joe, a 79-year-old former steelworker, is a controversial, sometimes vilified figure who the singer said abused him as a child.

He made an unexpected appearance on Sunday night at the BET Awards, which became a tribute to the King of Pop.

Joe Jackson said in an emphatic statement at the show that he and his wife, Katherine, have the “personal and legal authority to act, and solely … have authority for our son and his children”.

Joe Jackson, who turns 80 on July 26, was a boxer, a guitarist for a local band and a crane operator at U.S. Steel.

When he recognised the musical talents of his children, he organised and trained the Jackson 5, also serving as their manager.

“When I was little, it was all work, work, work,” Michael Jackson said in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Joe Jackson was a strict father who pushed his children relentlessly in rehearsals and performances. He had them call him not Dad or Father, but “Joseph.”

The singer said his father beat him and that “just a look would scare you”.

Michael said that he would get physically sick – as a child and as an adult – just at the sight of his father. He also spoke of emotional abuse.

“I was so shy I would wash my face in the dark,” Michael said, referring to an acne outbreak. “I wouldn’t look in the mirror and my father teased me. I just hated it. I would cry every day. He would tell me I’m ugly.”

Joe Jackson disputed his son’s claims of abuse, saying in 2003: “I whipped him with a switch and a belt. … I never beat him. You beat someone with a stick.”
