A tour bus carrying the lighting crew for tween idol Miley Cyrus flipped early Friday on a rain-slicked Virginia highway, killing one person.
The 16-year-old star was not aboard the bus when it overturned around 8:15 a.m. on Interstate 85, Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar said.
The bus driver was the lone fatality, the Web site TMZ.com reported. Molnar confirmed one of the nine people aboard the bus also suffered minor injuries.
The bus wound up lying on its side on a grassy slope just off the highway. TMZ reported the bus was part of a four-vehicle caravan connected to the ongoing Cyrus tour.
Cyrus is due to perform Sunday in Greensboro, N.C. The daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus is also the star of the hit television show “Hanna Montana.”
