It’s official. The talents of hip hop wonderboy, Kanye West, have reached mythical proportions. Not only can he sing (sometimes), but now he is an international design guru/judge. That’s right. A source revealed exclusively to Musictoob that West is due to co-host Wallpaper* magazine’s 2009 Design Awards in fashionable Paris later this month. Wallpaper* – the international design, lifestyle and fashion bible – is today publishing its annual Design Awards issue, which is the biggest selling edition of the magazine. The winners will celebrate at a party in Paris on 22 January. Kanye is one of the panel of ‘esteemed judges’ who also include: Jean Nouvel, Ines de la Fressange, Marc Newson, Sir Ken Adam and Stefano Pilati. Categories include Best City (Paris); Best Women’s fashion collection (Yves Saint Laurent A/W 2008) and Best New Domestic Appliance (’Ciussai’ heater by G Di Tullio and S Ragaini and Hob and oven by Marc Newson for Smeg). Surely, this is about as sophisticated as Kanye could possibly get?
