Peaches returns to London husband-free

The freshly-married Peaches Geldof, 19, flew back from America yesterday, without her new hipster husband Maxwell Drummey, 23. According to press reports, she was summoned back to London by her dad, Sir Bob Geldof, who is described as being “incandescent with rage” about his daughter getting hitched last Tuesday, after a four week relationship. You’ve got to hand it to her: she’s a fast mover. She’d just dumped Faris Badwan - singer with the band The Horrors – but now her whole family is freaking out. According to The Sun newspaper, that bastion of concern, Peaches told her “gobsmacked friends” she had married Drummey to “escape” the druggie scene she became mixed up with in London. Peaches spoke out on this subject at the weekend in The Sunday Times: “It’s something that people go through in their lives, especially growing up in London, and it’s not something I’ve ever had a problem with. I’m not friends with Amy Winehouse; I don’t live in Camden. I’ve never smoked crack in my life. I’ve done other drugs, I’ve had experiences with drugs – some good, some bad – and it’s not something I want to pursue. I can say now, I’ve never overdosed.” Drummey is still in the U.S. where his unknown band, Chester French, has a gig in L.A tonight. There is mounting speculation in the press that the wedding was a stunt to promote Drummey’s band who are about to release an album and are currently touring America.
