"Musictoob serves up juicy tidbits from the music scene and beyond" - The Wall Street Journal
The animal rights organization, PETA - who recently investigated Beyoncé following a Musictoob exclusive that revealed the singer had some dog-care issues – have have had their latest ad pulled. The pro-vegetarian commercial was due to be broadcast in breaks during the Super Bowl. NBC gave the ad the thumbs down because it “depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards,” according to NBC Universal’s advertising standards executive, Victoria Morgan.
That is, loads of hot women simulating sex with vegetables.
In the not-too-subtle ad, a series of hot women – clad only in scant lingerie – get rather too intimate with a variety of common garden vegetables, such as broccoli, asparagus and pumpkins. And, just in case you didn’t get it: the message at the end of the TV spot reads: “Studies show vegetarians have better sex.” PETA likes to court controversy. A previous media campaign by the organization compared the slaughter of animals for food with the Nazi holocaust, placing pictures of animals being turned into dinner with Jews being led off to the gas chambers side by side. PETA has also attacked a raft of celebrities for fur-wearing and other such crimes. The Olsen twins, Liam Neeson, Katy Perry, DMX and Kid Rock are but a few of the famous people PETA love to hate.
