Stephen Gately died of natural causes

Documents stated acute pulmonary oedema – a common post mortem examination finding after a heart attack.

Medical experts said the evidence pointed towards Sudden Adult Death Syndrome – caused by an undiagnosed heart condition.

The Boyzone star’s family – including his distraught civil partner Andrew Cowles – are now making plans for his body to be flown home.

The Irish singer was found dead at around 1pm on Saturday on the sofa in his apartment in Port Andratx.

He was discovered curled up on the sofa in what has been described as a prayer-like position.

In the hours before he died, he had been in the company of Mr Cowles and a Bulgarian man Georgi Dochev, who they met in the gay nightclub, the Black Cat.

The trio then returned to Gately’s luxury apartment around 4am.

Mystery has surrounded his final hours after it was claimed in the island newspaper Ultima Hora that had spent the night on the sofa while Mr Cowles and Mr Dochev had slept in the apartment’s only bedroom.
