"Musictoob serves up juicy tidbits from the music scene" - The Wall Street Journal
Call it the Youtube of music: the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.I.Am, hipster-hoppers LMFAO, and Pepsi have put together a hell of a music collaboration and all the content comes from you, the adoring public. Learn more after the jump.
Basically, users sign into www.ultimaterefresh.com and go nuts with LMFAO’s song “La La La.” You can pick a part, like percussion or vocal, and upload it along with thousands of other users’ recordings.
Then, you can make a remix using all the content on the site – and they’ve enlisted Will.I.Am to make the final mastermix of his favorite user submissions, to be released digitally in December.
Andrew Katz, of Pepsi, says he’s already excited.
“Will brings creativity and vision to the table. I’m hopeful that what we get is really unexpected and well beyond what we can anticipate in terms of the level or quality of submission,” Katz told Musictoob.
Judging from what’s already there, Will will have plenty to work with.
“It’s interesting not only to encourage people to be creative but also to build collaborations either from their own content or from other users’ content. I think what makes us so excited about the program is that it’s never been done before. There have been lots of different Youtube contests but there’s never been the sense of the collective…for us that’s what makes this fun. You don’t have to be creative…to have a really great experience,” Katz added.
